About

Protecting Wildlife. Restoring Habitats. Inspiring Conservation.

Welcome to The Highland Trust.

Founded in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, The Highland Trust is an independent wildlife conservation organisation dedicated to protecting endangered species through conservation breeding, habitat restoration and collaborative rewilding initiatives.

Our belief is simple: the future of wildlife depends upon careful stewardship today.

From our headquarters nestled among Scotland’s rugged landscapes, we are building a growing network of wildlife centres, research facilities and conservation partnerships that place animal welfare, education and long-term sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

Every species has a story worth protecting.

Whether caring for iconic predators, supporting vulnerable native wildlife or developing breeding programmes for some of the world’s rarest animals, every project undertaken by The Highland Trust contributes towards a larger vision — a future where healthy ecosystems and thriving wildlife exist together.

But conservation is more than breeding programmes and protected habitats.

Through education, responsible wildlife management and transparent conservation practices, we hope to inspire a new generation of wildlife enthusiasts to value and protect the natural world.

This website serves as the official journal of The Highland Trust.

Each article documents another chapter in our continuing journey—from the establishment of our first wildlife centre in the Scottish Highlands to the development of specialist breeding facilities and international conservation partnerships. Along the way we will share successes, setbacks, discoveries and the everyday work involved in building an organisation dedicated to protecting wildlife for generations to come.

A future where wildlife can flourish once again.
